Federal Express, the leading American logistics firm, has opened its $30-million cargo terminal facility in Clark Freeport Zone.

The 17,000 square meter state-of-the-art gateway facility of FedEx is equipped with the most modern package handling capabilities available, FedEx Express is seen to bring a total of 800 job opportunities in Clark alone.

The cargo terminal currently supports 36 weekly flights and is considered as one of the largest facilities in the region. It could also increase the company’s sorting capabilities to 9,000 documents and parcels per hour.

According to FedEx, the said facility would also reduce delivery time to Northern Luzon by an average of two hours, and would extend the cut-off time for Northern Luzon and Cebu customers.

FedEx Vice President for Southeast Asia Operations Audrey Cheong expressed her gratitude to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan for the support in making this milestone happen.

She also recognized the efforts of other CDC officers who played a crucial role in making the project a reality through a letter addressed to Gaerlan.

FedEx’s expansion in the Philippines is part of its long-term development in the Asia-Pacific region which aims to connect people and possibilities in and from the Philippines to the rest of the world.

The opening of the new FedEx facility marked the logistics company’s return to the Philippines 11 years after it abandoned its regional hub in Subic Freeport for China.

FedEx first opened its regional Asian hub in Subic, Zambales, in 1995. After 14 years, however, the company decided to move to Guangzhou.

In 2017, FedEx invested in two facilities with a combined worth of $2.15 million. The Philippine IT Center in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig is the third regional software development center for APAC solutions enhancement in the region.

Meanwhile, the APAC Trade Facilitation Center in Clark performs clearance preparation work such as data management, profile matching, and other administrative tasks to support APAC markets including Japan and Singapore.
